Please join me for the launch of my new collection, the first under ĀHURU.

This collection comes together across two parts - heirloom pieces, closer to craft and object, alongside a layer of wearable knits - shared through an exhibition at The Shelter, spanning knitwear, weaving, and homespun.

We’ll also be screening a short documentary that takes you into Te Māhia - its people, its place, and how it has shaped this mahi. This will be screened at 6:30.

Friends, whānau, and anyone who’s followed along, I’d really love to see you there 🤍 please RSVP via the link in my bio/story.

6–8pm
Wednesday 22 April
The Shelter, 78 Mackelvie Street, Ponsonby

E te whānau, we have some news. Four years ago I launched AMÉLIE. Since then, this work has grown and shifted in ways I didn’t expect.

Over time, the kaupapa has been reshaping. Being in Te Māhia, learning alongside my Te Wairoa whānau, and spending time with the knowledge that lives there has changed the way I see this mahi.

ĀHURU - a te reo Māori word meaning to be warm, cosy, and comfortable. A word that is etched into our fireplace at our kāinga, forever there when I am creating. A name that feels more aligned with what I want this work to stand for. Clothing, but also fibre-based taonga that hold process, patience, and story. It feels right.

You’ll see ĀHURU introduced here through the new Fashion Quarterly issue that has just come out (ngā mihi FQ), alongside a new collection coming 22 April.

Introducing ĀHURU, and saying ka kite to AMÉLIE.

I tried felting for the first time last weekend, we went to Annette’s whare and Mau taught me ❤️ I used some of the angora goat fleece I was gifted from a friend up the East Cape. Sometimes I go to rush these slow practices to see the end result (often expecting it to be amazing and be a little gutted when it’s not), Mau reminds me to slow down and that it for sure ain’t going to be perfect. Just another fun world of fibre opened up! Love these craft days in te Māhia 💌
