Are you just learning to sew? Here are my four tips to help you get started on the right track:

1. You don’t need a fancy sewing machine. Start with something simple and learn how to use it well. I’ve been sewing professionally for 4 years and I’m still using the same machine I was given for my 16th birthday

2. Don’t be scared of making mistakes. Unpicking stitches is part of sewing. You’ll do it less with practice, but we all make mistakes from time to time. We are human after all!

3. Start with a very beginner friendly project. You’ll learn a lot of essential sewing skills from sewing simple projects to begin with. If you have success you’ll be less likely to give up.

4. Find someone who can teach you the basics. Learning how to thread a machine, wind the bobbin, and read a pattern is so much more enjoyable if you’re doing it with someone who knows what they are doing.

I’ve just had to order more swing tags. My last order was for 200 in November 2023. Which means I’ve sold 200 individual items in my retail stockists since then 🤯

I don’t put swing tags on the pieces I make and send out myself. So, I wonder how many pieces I’ve made since 2023 in total? This might not seem a lot to some of you, but I’m sewing all of this myself by hand. Oh, and I had a baby in 2024 so that definitely slowed me down a bit.

If you’ve bought something from me, whether big or small, I’d like to thank you. You’ve made my dreams come true to work around my family and putting my creative hands to good use. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else right now 🌸 🧵

Lately I’ve been a bit quiet on social media but I’ve still been busy sewing what I can. We’ve been plagued with sickness on our house this winter. There seems to have been at least one person sick, snotty or coughing for about 7 weeks now. Right now though we are all feeling good and long may that last.

I did manage to make the sweetest harem pants & booties set last week.
