Santa's snacks...

to year before last when our big guy was such a little guy, but it was his first year of really understanding Santa 🎅and the snacks 🥕.

Lucky Santa got some single malt, carrots for the reindeer and a christmas pie.... and we then did some reindeer snacks out on the lawn too, so they could nibble while they waited.

Happy Holidays Friends!

From our whanau to yours, wishing you as much joy and peace, good food, sunshine and laughter over the next few weeks.

Shake off the year that was, all you can that no longer serves you, and here's to dancing back into a shiny new year having rested, spent time with those we all love most, and energised for all that will come our way in 2022.

There's so much I'm grateful for this year, but these three boys of mine take the cake. I am one lucky woman!

My little niece is a week old today 🥰 And my eldest turns 4 tomorrow 💚 And boy oh boy it's taken me down memory lane.

So much (and so little!) time has passed since I became a mum, and in so many ways I'm a different person than I was. I'm watching my gorgeous sister navigate this now, and there's so much I want to tell her, but so much I'll keep to myself, too, because all our paths are different.

The messages I think it's safe to pass on (because they feel so universally true)

💚 Let bubba sleep on you as often as they want too - it's amazing for you both and one day your heart will ache that they won't sleep on you anymore.

🤍 Unless people will come round and offer to cook, clean or change a nappy - seeing them can wait

💜 Don't rush any of it. It's all going to pass so much more quickly than the grind of a long day without sleep would suggest!

💕There will be good days, and there will be days that shatter you to your core. This is motherhood. The tough days are the days that teach you the most (about yourself!)

💖 Matresence (the transition to becoming a mother) is physical, emotional and neurological. It's as real as adolesence and less widely talked about. If you EVER need to talk about it - I'm here. I'm still in the thick of it, and somehow I don't think it will ever truly go away!

💓 There is more love, wisdom and knowing in your little finger than in any book you can ever read. You've got this mumma!

Kids accessing their own photos.....

My top tips....

👩‍💻 Set up a google shared album & add their email address to it (yes, you can even then create them an email addy to go with if they are little ones!)

📧 Email them regular updates to the email you’ve set up – this is fun as it gives them some context (rather than just the photos)

📚Print regular photo books, prints, cards, wall decals just for them (e.g don’t worry about them being for anyone else’s enjoyment, and let the kids pick!) My favourite photo printers are you can use the code Memoir to get 10% off your orders (thanks team HM!)

🧲 Get photo magnets printed – kids LOVE to play with these on the fridge if they are little, and when it’s mid way through the witching hour and you’re about to blow a fuse, seeing their cheruby little faces on the fridge MIGHT just be enough to diffuse the situation! Check out the cool NZ based for their super affordable and cool options

🖨️ Just use the printer!! Often, we get so caught up in getting perfect prints, just doing a couple of prints from your printer & popping them up on the wall / your notice board will be just the ticket to give you (and your kids) a fun smile

📸 Consider getting a polaroid camera. If they are old enough, this is a ton of fun for them, to practice taking photos with the sheer joy of instant gratification. You’ll get some horrors, but you’ll also get some gems, of that, I have faith!

Telling stories…

One of the best ways for us to learn about the world around us, about our place in it, and about what it means to be human.

Telling stories is how us wonderful humans first made sense of the world, created connections and learnt from each other. And that is still true today.

Now, we often first turn to social media to tell our stories. Some of us may also journal. Some of us may write to our kids. But how do we tell their stories when the photos are trapped on our phones?

Locked in digital purgatory, not patiently waiting in a film roll to be printed once maxed out, our photos are plentifully taken and shared on social media, but also SO scarce in our homes.

I’m on a mission, to help you, you wonderful fellow human and parent, to unlock those images, to free a generation of trapped photos so our wonderful kids know their stories.

So they know what it is to have grown up in the time they did, with the people around them who love them so, to learn what it is to be themselves. To have more confidence, to stand taller, to have more courage, and to face down what ever life throws at them.

There’s a lot to be said for sharing stories. And I’d love to help you share yours.

Once upon a time, I was a grinch.

And this year, I’ve made my very own gluten free Christmas mince pies 👊 We’re opening an advent calendar (Disney Xmas Books) every night before bed 🎄 And the tree was up in November 🤶

Who is this person? Well, turns out, having kids has made Christmas magical again for me. There’s a long story behind how and why I switched off from the Christmas hoopla (and I’m still not a fan of the commercialised side of it all) BUT I have tuned in to the traditions.

I’ve got the memo now, and I understand that it’s the power of the rituals we create which create amazing memories, and I’ve had some hefty doses of inspiration from our work together at .

Or, more's the point... grubby shoulder, don't care 😂

Our (adult) washing ratio is 80% mum gear and 20% dad's, how about at yours?

But, seriously, I wouldn't change it for the world, I might have my line up of "don't touch me in these" adult clothes, and the rest is ALL about that mum life - the porridge-y hands, the peanut butter (that sh&t gets everywhere!) , the grass, the sand, the glorious beauty that is life with preschoolers.

It mightn't always make for the best photos, but, these little moments, are so important, so I'm focussing on enjoying the moments (and, definitely enjoying the times I get to wear "adulting" gear and step away for a few hours to do stuff for myself!

What's the little thing for you in motherhood that could be a nuisance but you're choosing to look at as a blessing?

A bit like the builder's house!

No Black Friday sales here....

For a couple of reasons

1) you put anything "trendy" in front if me, and I tend to f&ck it up, or give it a little sneer of distaste. Stems from missing out on a chatter ring as a kid. Bloody weird NZ craze from the 90s.

Turns out, my life did not end from missing out. Lesson stuck.

2) WTF is it all about?! No clue... and when I'm ignorant, I don't like to partake of any cool-ade, and I can't be fa**ed working out what it's all meant to be about.

3) What we create takes real hard work, hand crafted by real kiwis, who deserve to be paid full price for impeccable service. I won't be discounting what I pay my suppliers to create your marvellous albums , and I know they are worth every cent and then some.

These will last beyond a lifetime, and that's worth holding value on and value for. #3 is really #1 as to why no sales...

Collaboration ❤

Sometimes being in biz for yourself can be an uphill, lonely slog.

I've found that collaboration is the best cure and makes for so much more fun.

In both my businesses, I find ways I can work with clever folk who have strengths💪 where I may not, who think differently to me, who'd perhaps take the shot another way.

So cheers 🥂 to the bloody talented who is my right hand pal here at Me-Moir, coming up with epic layouts and making your pages print ready before we ping them through to our dear friends in Dunedin who make sure your prints are the best in NZ!
