Bit of recent mahi toi from the last couple of weeks. Still jumping between mediums, carving pumice, shaping and carving uku, playing with digital design & poster art. Great news! I have opened up a few additional appointments over the next couple of weeks.

These sessions are perfect for anyone who has been wanting to come in for some deep tissue mahi, anyone new who would like to check us out, or for any current ACC whaiora who have been waiting for an appointment.

All the Tūwharetoa funded sessions for this month are already fully allocated, however, you are welcome to book ahead for April if you are wanting one of those spaces. We have 15 funded sessions available each month.

If you are looking for a fully funded Rongoā practitioner to support your recovery and hauora journey, or would simply like to have a kōrero about how Rongoā or ACC sessions work, feel free to pop in and see me this Saturday for a korero.

Kia ora e te whānau!

Exciting news, Ahoake has been awarded $500 in funding from The Lines Company to support our Summer 2026 Toi Series: Uku Workshops here in Tūrangi.

We’re grateful for the awhi and can’t wait to bring these creative kaupapa to life for our community this summer.

Our Uku Workshops are all about bringing whānau and tamariki together to create their own taonga from the whenua.

Using uku (clay), everyone is guided through shaping and forming a piece that holds their own creativity. It’s a calm, hands-on space where all ages can slow down, learn, and reconnect through Māori artmaking practices.

Once the taonga is shaped, participants can paint and decorate it in their own style before finishing with simple binding techniques to complete the piece.

These workshops are designed to be fun, accessible to the community, a place where whānau can create together, learn together, and take home something meaningful made with their own hands.

Our next release of Ahoake heru and hair pins are ready, in stock, and available to ship anywhere in Aotearoa.

Crafted from beautiful rimu, each heru is laser-cut, hand-shaped, finished with our homemade pani, some woven with waxed cord.

Every piece comes with its own rimu wheku base, a stunning display stand for your dresser.

These are small-batch and made right here in Tūrangi. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
