Today we're celebrating the legacy of Gordon Riach, the original founder of The Wool Company.

A true wool man, Gordon began his career classing wool on stations throughout Hawke's Bay before moving to Taihape with his wife Janet in the 1950s to establish a wool buying business. Passionate about promoting wool and finding new uses for it, he was involved in a variety of innovative ventures, including turning manure into sheep pellet fertiliser, exporting sheepskins to France for the leather industry, and developing wool knops for carpet enhancement, pillows and duvets. His entrepreneurial spirit helped showcase the versatility and value of New Zealand wool.

Gordon's dedication to the wool industry helped shape the foundations of The Wool Company and his legacy continues to inspire us today. 🐑
