Last month I visited our manufacturers in China who have been making kids swimsuits for almost 20 years for some of the biggest brands in the world 🩱🌎
We painstakingly went through every single detail of our full coverage swimwear range & here are the 4 things that make our swimsuits the best in the game that you may not have even considered when buying your kids togs….
🌈FABRIC QUALITY REALLY MATTERS - we made sure to choose the thicker 230gsm swimsuit fabric even though it’s more expensive as it is more durable, lasts longer & is more resistant to bagging at the knees. Cheap swimsuits at bargain stores are cheap for a reason 🤪 They use low quality fabrics to cut costs - and you end up paying in the long run as they don’t last!
🌈 FABRIC COMPOSITION MATTERS - we were suggested a form of swimsuit fabric that supposedly has a more “premium” feel, & a subtle brushed effect. Apparently it’s all the rage in Europe. But when we looked at its properties we immediately said no thanks! Less durable, lower colour fastness, more prone to bagging & sagging 🤦‍♀️ it might suit the kids lounging by the poolside in a villa in France 😝 but for active kids at the beach & out being wild and free - not so much!
🌈 VISIBILITY MATTERS - neutral hues, pastels & that Scandi-chic vibe might look cute but they score TERRIBLY on the water visibility tests. If your child is in the water in these colours they can be so hard to spot that it’s a major drowning risk. We have chosen bold, bright colours & have certain designs marked SUPER HIGH VIS so that your kids are easy to spot both on a crowded beach & in the water 🌊
🌈 KID FRIENDLY MATTERS - when it comes to choosing a full coverage swimsuit that your kid is going to WANT to wear - it’s gotta be something they’re stoked on! We’ve thrown out any ideas of making “fashionable” kids swimsuits & are all about giving kids what they actually want! Dinosaurs, turtles, flamingos, butterflies, construction vehicles 😝 The more they love it, the less stressful getting ready for summer fun is!
Oh & full coverage of course! A total no-brainer for the easiest & most effective sun protect

Honestly we had no choice 🫣😝
Last Summer we sold out of SO many sizes of our fun & funky full coverage kids swimsuits that we were dealing with dozens of “when will you be restocking xyz” emails every day 🫪
It was so humbling - both from an ‘oh my god people love our togs 😝’ point of view but also from a ‘holy sh*tballs we need to level up this biz really quick’ point of view.
So this year we’re going all in 🫣
We’re ordering almost 4x the number of swimsuits as last Summer! We’ll have over 20 bold, bright, high-visibility prints for you and your kiddos to choose from AND we’re introducing 3 new products which will mean our size range goes from 6m to 14 years!!!

Realising there’s no such thing as an “Off season” 🤪
Okay so here they are
1. I would be keeping up with amazing social media content 🤪 I thought there wouldn’t be much to chat about over Winter but totally not the case! There have been sunscreen scandals to dissect, family shenanigans to share and of course all the behind the scenes stuff of our new collection
2. Planning out all the non-core product extra bits and bobs we want to have this summer like a really cool gift with purchase for Black Friday madness (actually I’m going to get into that now otherwise we’ll totally be caught out!!)
3. Organising a sick photo shoot for our new collection! I know I know it’s pretty nippy out there but actually when I look back in my photo collection we got so many epic pics of the kids in their togs at this time of year OR I could start dreaming up a pacific island “work trip” 😂😝
It would blow your mind to know how far in advance and just how many decisions need to be made to launch super high quality & epic products - it definitely did for Steve and I! 💥
Anyhoo now that I’ve done this post it makes me want to get my ass into gear and do all of these things anyway 🙌 so keep your eyes peeled for more content and exciting news coming your way!

Okay okay so I know it’s not THAT cold yet but the whole - getting dark at 6pm - situation is really bumming me out 🤪
If you’re in the same boat & furiously booking that winter holiday escape to some sunshine - make sure you’re stocked up on Cucumber Coolies so you don’t take the stress of being sunsafe on holiday with you!

It’s hard to explain HOW MANY emails pass back and forth between myself and our amazing team of manufacturers in China - but let’s just say 😵😵‍💫🥴
Each and every detail is gone over what seems like 1000 times and what I’ve now realised after spending 1 day in their offices and visiting the factory is that email is SUCH a clunky way to communicate 🤪
The number of micro decisions we made in that one day was INSANE! Not to mention the fact we properly got to know each other along the way! Our manufacturers are all women and all mamas! And even though we live half way across the world from each other in very different culture - we have so much in common ❤️
Needless to say I’m already saving up for next years trip 🙌

🙌 PRICELESS 🙌
Even though our manufacturers are INCREDIBLE communicators - you just wouldn’t believe the number of decisions we were able to make and links we were able to iron out in just one day together in real life!
Totally worth flying all the way from New Zealand and definitely on the cards whenever we have new products in the works 🙌
I can’t WAIT for these new products to become reality - they’re going to be such an epic addition to our kids full coverage swimwear brand 🔥
