A new chapter for Wright Wool and our founder, Philippa Wright 🐑🤍🌿

After 48 years in the wool industry, Philippa has made the decision to pass the reins of Wright Wool to WoolWorks Grower Direct - a team who shares our passion for strong wool and the people who grow it.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my career to work alongside such a loyal and dedicated community of growers, staff, and suppliers. My heart will always be in wool.” – Philippa Wright MNZM

We’re excited for what the future holds under WoolWorks’ ownership and confident they’ll carry forward the values, care, and commitment that have always been at the heart of Wright Wool.

Thank you for being part of our journey - here’s to the next chapter for New Zealand strong wool.

Did you know that wool is naturally biodegradable if disposed of? Choosing wool minimizes the amount of waste that sits in landfills. Due to its high nitrogen content, wool biodegrades anywhere from a few weeks to 1 year, depending on environmental conditions. 🤍🐑🌿

Did you know, 1 in 7 children in NZ suffer from asthma and 45% suffer from dust mite allergies?

How do you know if you’re sleeping on the right pillow for you? It comes down to your build and the position you predominantly sleep in. If you are someone who mostly is a side-sleeper, or you have broad shoulders, you should choose a thicker pillow to ensure you maintain spinal alignment. If you are predominantly a back-sleeper, your pillow should be flatter to prevent your neck from being hunched while you sleep.

And of course, ensure your pillow filling is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly for healthier sleep, home and planet! 🤍🐑🌿

We often receive feedback from customers that they feel they can breathe easier at night time and/or that their allergy symptoms ease or disappear altogether. Why is that? We’re glad you asked! Wool is:
🌿 Hypoallergenic - no allergens here. 🙅‍♀️
🌿 Antimicrobial - resistant to microorganisms such as mould, mildew, viruses and bacteria.
🌿 Improves indoor air quality - wool has a natural ability to filter the air around it, absorbing harmful VOC’s that it will never re-emit.

Did you know that wool isn't just cozy and comfortable, but also incredibly eco-friendly? 🐑 It's all thanks to its remarkable biodegradability and renewability!

🌿 Wool is made from keratin, the same protein found in human hair, which means it naturally breaks down in soil and water, sustaining a continuous biological life cycle. In fact, in the right conditions, wool products can almost completely degrade in just six months!

🌊 But it's not just on land where wool works its magic. Recent studies from New Zealand show that different types of wool can biodegrade by up to 20% in aquatic environments within just 90 days!

🌿 Plus, as wool biodegrades, it acts as a natural soil conditioner and fertilizer, releasing essential nutrients like sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium.

🌍 This stands in stark contrast to synthetic fibers, which take much longer to break down and release harmful microplastics into the environment. But fear not! While wool is busy returning to the Earth, its resilient and long-lasting fibers ensure that your garment remains sturdy and dependable throughout its lifetime.
