Warkworth Library is the local drop-off place for the handbag appeal. I know I have several good handbags I dont use which I can easily fill with the listed essentials plus a few extras. Maybe there are Gaby's customers out there happy to do the same 💕

It began with Grace Millane.💙
A young British traveller who tragically lost her life while backpacking in New Zealand in 2018.

In the face of unimaginable grief, Grace’s family in the UK chose to honour her in a way that would bring light from tragedy. They created the Love Grace Handbag Appeal, transforming her love of handbags into support for women in need.

Here in Aotearoa, that legacy now supports wāhine escaping domestic violence. Your donated handbags, filled with new essential items, are gifted through Refuge services to women who often arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.

Each bag provides immediate dignity and practical essentials.
Each bag carries a message of love and empowerment.

Now in its fifth year in New Zealand, more than 15,000 handbags have been gifted to wāhine across our country.

As we prepare to launch on Valentine's Day, we remember Grace. We remember the light she carried, and we honour the life that was taken far too soon on our shores.

In her name, we stand together across Aotearoa.
We stand for the wāhine who arrive at a Refuge with nothing.
For the mothers protecting their tamariki.
For the women rebuilding after fear.

We walk beside our sisters as they find their footing again.
We wrap them in dignity.
We remind them they are seen.
We remind them they matter.

From England to New Zealand, from one family’s heartbreak to thousands of acts of kindness, Grace’s legacy lives on in every handbag you gift.

Together, we honour Grace.
Together, we uplift and empower wāhine across this country.
Together, we turn love into action.

Every handbag is more than a gift.

We'll be closed on Monday 27 Jan to celebrate my 28 years of owning Gaby's (as well as Auckland Anniversary Day). How the years have flown since that first morning I started here in 1997!

We'll also be closed on Waitangi Day - otherwise summer hours are our normal 9 - 5 on weekdays and 9.30 to 3 on Saturdays.

Spread the word and come if you can. There are businesses who just won't survive months of disruption to the main street of town.

You’re invited to attend a community meeting hosted by One Mahurangi to discuss the current situation regarding Watercare’s proposed wastewater pipeline from the northern developments to Lucy Moore Park’s wastewater station.

Where: Warkworth Town Hall

Merry Christmas! Hope you're enjoying special time with family and friends as are we. It is 5 years since my family has been together - truly a special time for me (and a significant birthday celebration as well).
Gaby's is closed Mon & Tues this week and next.
Wed- Fri hours for the two short weeks are 9.30 to 4.
Saturdays are our usual 9.30 to 3.
