That’s on progressssss!!

We were working so hard last night in the hot studio, amazing effort from everyone to get these mostly done! 🌸

As this course is only 6 weeks we are squeezing a lot in a short time and I’m sure this will make all other projects feel like a breeze lol

So many new skills unlocked and more understanding of the inner workings of garment constructions ⚒️

Next week we start on our final project : PJS!! ☁️

🌸 Exciting News 🌸

I’m stepping into the world of teaching!

With 8 years post-diploma experience in the textiles industry, working in fabric stores, garment construction, costume for TV and film productions, and running my own business, I am now feeling confident and excited about assisting others in building up their skills.

This course is designed for beginners who own a sewing machine and know the basics but want to upskill. The first piece we make will be beginner-friendly and will move into more intermediate-level creations as we go.

It is a supportive space where your growth is encouraged, supported, and celebrated. You will be free to express yourself creatively, making each piece unique to you.

$250 for 6 weeks. Snacks, tea, and a cosy, inspiring space provided, and a fun, cute teacher 😛

✿ Every Tuesday, November 4 – Dec 9, 6pm–8pm
✿ Hosted .nz
✿ BYO sewing machine and fabric scissors
Some fabric options available but most will need to be sourced.
✿ Back-up sewing machines and some tools available
✿ Pre-made samples of each piece for reference

Recently I’ve been inspired seeing lots of visible mending techniques becoming a more popular way of repairing. (Japanese boro and sashiko)

I love how these styles aim to make the garment more unique and not focus on visual “perfection”, but to add something a little interesting. As well as this being a strong holding, long lasting method.

Win win win

Steering away from the machine and using just my hands has been great for slowing down the process and reconnecting to the original goal of sustainability through restoring garments 👖 ♻️ 🌍
