Thereā€™s something about old-school retail that I just canā€™t let go of.

Maybe it will be a rebirth, a new frontier in this modern online world. I genuinely believe there are still very good reasons to hold onto the experience of buying things in person.

The browsing. The touching. The picking something up and turning it over in your hands. The stories behind old things. The nostalgia. The unexpected curiosities you find when youā€™re not looking for anything in particular.

And the people.

Thank goodness for op shops, vintage stores, markets, fairs, auctions and all those little places and events that still operate in the old-school way. Places where you can wander, browse, chat, discover something completely unexpected and meet people along the way.

What a buzz.

For me, thereā€™s also something really important about buying and supporting local whenever I can. Choosing the in-person experience. Meeting the person behind the business. Having a conversation. Being part of a community rather than everything simply arriving at the front door.

People, in my experience, are so often kind, thoughtful and generous. Thereā€™s something to learn and there's something quite special about that human connection.

So, hats off to all of you out there, who are making there way in the world, those who are building something, selling something,buying something, creating something, and travelling that road is (momentarily)less taken.

Letā€™s keep supporting one another.

Letā€™s keep browsing, discovering, talking, touching, collecting and sharing the stories. Let's keep it alive ā¤ļø
