Your local skate shop!
In skating there are a lot factors... Street or Vert, Skill, Deck/Setup and various other things... One of the main things general public never take into consideration is how diverse the Skate communities throughout the world are. In saying this Whangarei as a whole has a great skate community where if you’re a Male or Female, From New Zealand or International, Skating is understood as a language of it’s own. You could not know anyone in Whangarei, Be from out of town... And turn up at the skatepark with your board. People usually start off a general conversation with you saying thing’s like “ What can you do” and “What’s your favourite part of the park”... This in turn creates a welcoming experience for anyone worldwide. After working directly along side this amazing skate community for years and years, It’s clear to see that those that are involved in the local skate community are not only prepared to look out for one another but also other anonymous people of Whangarei. We often speak to the Riders that have been involved in the local skate community for years and even though some of the styles of skating have changed, The way skating gives them PURPOSE has not changed... Skating is social, In person, Allows people to commit and create goals. If you’ve made it this far into this article, LOG OUT for the moment, GRAB that skateboard in the cupboard, Under the house or at your cousins... And go down to the park! Chur bo!
