In parks across Spain, ordinary kiosks are taking on a quiet new role—becoming small repair corners where anyone can mend a shirt, fix a missing button, or learn a simple stitch. These kiosks, once used for newspapers or snacks, now hold sewing kits stocked with thread, needles, buttons, and fabric patches. They're open during the day, inviting park-goers to sit for a few minutes and patch up something worn.

Volunteers, many of them retired tailors or craft lovers, offer gentle guidance to those who stop by. Some teach basics like threading a needle or sewing a straight line. Others simply lend a steady hand as someone repairs their favorite coat. The vibe is calm and inviting—just a table, a few spools of thread, and quiet conversations beneath the trees.

Children sometimes join in, learning to sew their names into handkerchiefs. Tourists fix travel bags on the go. Locals share leftover buttons or swap tiny scraps of fabric. There's no rush and no charge—just the soft rhythm of mending things that still matter.

By placing repair into public spaces, Spain is reintroducing the value of reuse and self-reliance. It’s not about perfect stitches—it’s about noticing what’s torn and sitting down to care for it, together.

This is what regenerative farming can look like. This is a picture of the Eden Project in Cornwall, England. Unlike conventional monoculture planting, this polyculture system diversifies the soil life, making plants less susceptible to pests and disease. (Photo by Franie Treetops @ Flickr).

Regenerative farming applies the Buddhist wisdom of pratītyasamutpāda (dependent origination) and inter-being to agriculture. One could also describe this as aligning with the ecological wisdom of Nature, what some African cultures call "ubuntu" - the Indigenous wisdom that all LIFE is interdependently related as a whole, and thrives best as One family -🙏💕
