4 BENGUET TOWNS UNDER SIGNAL NO. 2; REST STILL UNDER NO. 1 AS NANDO INTENSIFIES
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported this morning, September 22, that Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) has further intensified while moving westward, placing four Benguet towns under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 while the rest are still under signal no. 1.
The municipalities of Mankayan, Buguias, Bakun, and Kibungan are under Signal No. 2, with possible minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds (62–88 km/h).
The rest of the province is under Signal No. 1, where minimal to minor impacts are expected from strong winds (39–61 km/h).
Although the typhoon is currently threatening the Babuyan Islands, Benguet residents are warned of potential heavy rainfall, strong winds, and localized flooding or landslides, especially in mountainous areas.
Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas reminds the public to take precautionary measures, particularly those in areas identified as landslide- or flood-prone.
Motorists are advised to be cautious of slippery roads and reduced visibility during downpours.
Disaster risk reduction and management councils, are further advised to remain alert and ensure readiness of evacuation plans if necessary.
The next bulletin will be issued at 11:00 AM today.
