I started my sewing business years ago with just a ₱550 worth of small sewing machine, and some old clothes and now I received my 550th order! ❤️🎉🥳
My first product was an outfit for my eldest daughter that she needed for her school event. I found an old dress in her closet and transformed it into Filipiniana attire. And take note, it was handsewn! 😅
I couldn't believe that this moment would make me realize why not create signature pieces for others too.
After that, I tried testing the waters. That's when I bought a cheap portable sewing machine (just for a start🫣), started watching free online courses for sewing, research basic designs and pattern making, then created my online shops on different platforms.
Then voila! ✨ I started receiving orders...
The first few months were rough. I got a bad review, and it hit me hard on my bones. I was still new... I cried it out and for a very short moment, I doubted myself.
Shall I continue selling?
Shall I study more first?
Shall I just stop here and find another niche? 🥺
But a voice told me...
"This is what you wanted when you were young. Remember when you were in highschool, you used to do sketches for your teachers' uniforms? When you were younger, you had a notebook full of gown sketches. Then why stop now?"
And I woke up...
Yes, this is my dream... I wanted to be a fashion designer but hadn't had the chance. Why not chase for the stars this time? 🥹
"Doubting yourself is normal. Letting it stop you is a choice."
I found this and it made me strive again...
I stood up again, took that review to heart and address it to become better.
If I had stopped for that one bad review, I wouldn't be enjoying the luxury of managing my own business and had the chance to make it grow. If I had stopped, I wouldn't have been celebrating the 550th order I received today. 🫣
