📷Roel Rosal started in the local fashion design scene literally from the bottom, what with the absence of promotional platforms like social media at the time. In 1995, he started as a design apprentice of Melvin Lachica, a creative design genius who has been respected for years. Under Lachica’s wings, Roel Rosal learned everything– from basic tasks like cutting swatches to a little more complex job like beading.
After three years under Lachica, he finally decided to make it on his own and design his creations under his own name and brand. His hard work paid off as he was one of the pioneering three batches of designers that Mega Young designers’ Competition has produced. His creations in 1998 had been published and widely praised by the local fashion media glitterati as one of the Top 8 best designs. Years down the road, Mega Young Designers Competition has become the Philippines’ premiere fashion designers competition that has evolved into a huge fashion reality TV event searching for the next big names in the fashion industry
After making his name familiar and known among the local fashion industry and insiders, he then decided to try his luck in Kuwait to become a designer of premiere children’s and ladies wear. His five years stint in Kuwait made him realize that Ready-To-Wear (RTW) clothing development is not for him, and that classic couture is indeed his calling.
📷
He then went back to the Philippines to pick up from where he left off. He came back with a bang as his first creation for MEGA Magazine had caught the metro’ attention in 2007, famously reviewed by the publication. In 2008, he truly solidified his status as one of the pioneering leaders in local fashion scene as he became a staple in the Philippine Fashion Week since that year. Every fashion season, Roel Rosal has been widely publicized as top creator of classic couture as his simple, classic yet sexy cuts with outlandish details have been every woman’s dream couture outfits for events, and distinctively noted by the local fashion media.
Today, Roel Rosal’s creations are featured in various billboards and leading fashion campaigns, as well as donned by celebrities and fashion authorities.
