• Fast, bingeable read

MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐️

I did NOT see that plot twist coming at all.

At first, I honestly didn’t even want to read this — but I already rented it, so sayang naman, diba? I told myself I’d just read a few chapters and sleep early… but you already know how that goes. “One more chapter” turned into like 30 more until I dozed off around 4AM. I woke up at 7, picked it up again, and by 8:30AM I was done.

That’s how bingeable it is.

Reading this at night made everything ten times creepier. I was literally checking below my feet while reading because I get spooked so easily — as old as I am, I still believe in monsters under the bed. 🤧

And the fact that the mumu’s name is Anya??? Same name as my daughter??? That made it even more personal and unsettling.

Plus, the pictures throughout the book added such a creepy, sinister vibe. It made everything feel more real and disturbing, like you’re seeing the story unfold in a way that’s hard to ignore.

The story started SO strong, and the twist really got me. But the ending… it felt a bit bland. Okay siya, but not exactly what I was expecting. I honestly would have loved a few more chapters to really build that ending.

Still, it was a fun, creepy, and addictive read.

I don’t trust anyone.
That’s it. That’s my review. I’m not Team Manuscript nor Team Letter!

At first, I was so sure Jeremy was the creep. Like… what are the chances na you meet Lowen and you’re at the same accident scene like, “are you okay? let me help you clean the blood off” ??? Sir??? Suspicious much??? I really thought he was a stalker or something, and I even believed he had something to do with Verity’s accident (which… okay, he kinda did, but still 😭). Because let’s be honest — it’s always the husband, isn’t it?

And then Lowen started reading the manuscript…
EXCUSE ME??? WHAT IS THIS??? 😭 I was so mad reading how Verity talked about her own kids. Like I wanted to enter the book and fight her myself. The anger was REAL.

But then… THAT LETTER.
So now what??? I’m just supposed to sit here and question everything???

Who’s telling the truth???
The manuscript… or the letter???

This book completely messed with my head. It didn’t give answers — it gave doubt. And somehow that made it even more addictive.

Also… It Ends with Us and It Starts with Us didn’t fully win me over before… BUT THIS???

Now I’m out here ready to buy every thriller Colleen Hoover has written. 😭📚

SOFT SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

• War, loss, and broken childhoods
• Emotionally devastating
• Morally complex characters
• Found family & betrayal
• Pain. Just pain. 😭
• “They were just kids…”

MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ♾️

Classic enemies to lovers trope… but so much more painful than I expected.

They weren’t enemies because they wanted to be — bata lang sila forced into a war. And that’s what broke me the most. They were just kids! Teenagers! Bata! Fighting, surviving, hurting… all because of something that started from a misunderstanding between two brothers.

Lucien deserved so much more. He only wanted to travel, to see the world — to live. He did not deserve what happened to him. And Soren… my poor Soren. The kind of character you can’t help but ache for.

And Shiseo — please, just give him time. Don’t hate him right away. None of them were truly villains here. Just children shaped and damaged by a war they didn’t choose.

Kaine and Helena also broke my heart in a different way. Their efforts went unrecognized, and Kaine was seen as the villain until the end (never got to clear his name 😭)but somehow, they still found their way to a quiet life far away — the kind they always wanted. There’s something bittersweet about that kind of ending.

And Amaris — I loved Amaris. Truly. I cried when sinabi ni Kaine na baka iwan or p*tayin nalang si Amaris and thank lucien di nangyari. Even Crowther, kahit minsan ang annoying niya, I still found myself liking him.

This book doesn’t just tell a story — it makes you feel the weight of lost innocence, of choices made too early, and of love that grows in the middle of destruction.

They were never meant to be enemies. Just kids.

P.S: Worth it na worth it ang pagbili ko both digital and physical copy 🥹🥹 Please prepare a box of tissue, you’ll need it if you’re planning to read this book.
