SALARY, SAVINGS & REALITY CHECK

Let me share again how I realize these things after I graduated from college and about to review for the board exam to be able enter the corporate or “real” world and “fulfill my dreams”..

“Pag nakapagtrabaho ka, MAG-IPON ka para makapagpundar ka”
“Pag nakapagtrabaho ka, MAG-IPON ka para yumaman ka”
“Pag nakapagtrabaho ka, MAG-IPON ka magkaron ka ng magandang buhay”

Narinig mo nadin ba tong mga “words of wisdom” na ito habang lumalaki ka? :)

Ngayon na nasa “REALITY” ka na, or nagtatrabaho ka na. Nagawa mo na ba ang mga ito?

May naitatabi ka ba sa sweldo mo? Kung wala pa, sa tingin mo bakit kaya?

Bakit kaya yung idea ng success noong bata pa tayo eh ang layo sa REALITY kung san tayo nabubuhay sa ngayon?

Bakit kaya noong nag-aaral palang tayo, AKALA natin magiging “smooth-sailing” yung pagtupad natin sa mga pangarap natin.

Bakit kaya kapag titingnan mo yung paligid mo ngayon, mas marami ang hindi pa or hindi padin nakakakuha nung “dream life” (na nabuo natin nung estudyante days natin) after years and decades of working hard or saving?

Lumaki AKO na napapansin ko na bakit may mga taong nagsasucceed pero mas marami yung stressed out?

I also noticed from DIFFERENT people that MOST of them use these lines when asked “kamusta trabaho or kamusta buhay?”
“Eto, ganun padin wala pading pag-asenso”
“nakakaraos naman!”
“paulit-ulit lang yung nangyayari, routine na nga eh”
“parang wala naming nangyayari!”

So AKO, not being the smartest person in the world, can somehow come up with a reflection: iba-iba silang tao, iba-iba yung ginagawa nila pero bakit NAGTATAGPO sila sa isang sitwasyon?

Bakit karamihan sa mga kilala at nakikita ko, ang tagal tagal nang nagtatrabaho pero wala pading nangyayari? Yes they survive, but is that “the goal”? To just survive? To just pay the bills from cradle to grave?

Again this is MY reflection. Which you can also ponder on..

I’m not a fan of Mathematics at yung mga pinsan niyang subject. But this Computation really slap me in both side of my face. NAGISING TALAGA AKO SA KATOTOHANAN. J

Nung narealize ko yung mga kalokohan ka pagkapasaway na ginawa ko nung bata ako (which most of us were :) ), I became so DRIVEN sa isang goal, and that is to GIVE BACK TO MY PARENTS, para sa lahat ng dedicated hard work at sacrifices nila sa amin. Dahil nakikita ko din na iilan nalang yung nag-goGOAL ng ganun, karamihan satin ngayon hindi na narerealize na DAPAT bumabawi tayo sa mga PARENTS natin, karamihan after college dire-diretcho na sa “sariling landas” without LOOKING BACK sa mga ginawang PAGTAGUYOD sa atin for 14-15 years.

Hindi na natin narerealize na dapat bumabawi tayo sa kanila WHETHER THEY ASK FOR IT OR NOT. And you shouldn’t wait for them to ask for it, you know that thing called “PAGTANAW NG UTANG NA LOOB” :)

I wanted to give back to my Parents habang ANDITO PA sila, at PWEDE PA nilang maenjoy yung tokens of my GRATITUDE. Pero paano ko maachieve yun kung GANITO KATAGAL yung aabutin? Ang naitanong ko lang sa sarili ko nung nareveal sakin to is:
-Buhay pa kaya sila after 43 years? (62 & 56 na sila ngayon)
-Kung sakaling buhay pa nga sila nun, maEENJOY pa kaya nila?
-Buhay pa kaya AKO after 43 years? (25 na ako ngayon)
-Magkano dapat yung sweldo ko para makapag-IPON ako ng 15,000/month para mapababa ko ng 20 years yung hihintayin ng parents ko? And buhay pa kaya sila after 20 years? (not being negative, this is being realistic)

NATAKOT AKO, natakot akong magaya sa MALAKING PERCENTAGE ng mga rank & file na kahit ang tagal nang “working hard” hindi padin nakakamit yung success na inaasam nila..

NATAKOT AKO na magaya sa karamihan na HINDI NALANG nagseset ng goals sa buhay kahit nagSETTLE na sila sa idea na “imposible namang maachieve eh”

NATAKOT AKO na magaya sa karamihan na NAMAMATAY NALANG ang parents nang HINDI MAN LANG nakakabawi sa lahat ng hirap at sakripisyong ginawa sa pagtaguyod ng kanilang pamilya. (yun yung pinakamasakit!)

Alam ko na AWARE KA DIN na hindi naman habang buhay kasama natin ang mga magulang natin.
Alam ko na AWARE KA na GINAGAWA NILA LAHAT para lang mabigyan ka ng magandang buhay at kinabukasan, if they failed to give it to you, we both know that THEY TRIED,

GINAWA NILA LAHAT.
Kailan naman NATIN gagawin din lahat PARA NAMAN SA KANILA?

I AM NOT THE SMARTEST PERSON IN THE WORLD pero alam ko kung paano gamitin ang COMMON SENSE (which today is no longer common)
I AM JUST AN AVERAGE PERSON with ABOVE average dreams, goals and aspirations in life.

WE are GOD’S highest form of creation, why choose to settle for “just surviving”?

I BELIEVE in decent jobs, I believe in HARD WORK. What I find hard to believe in is just settling to GET STUCKED in a job that DRAINS YOU, ENSLAVES you, ROBS you of your FREEDOM, doesn’t make you HAPPY, doesn’t help you GROW, doesn’t reward you the feeling of FULFILLMENT and doesn’t care about or help you REALIZE YOUR DREAMS, goals and purpose in life.

I don’t want to just “earn a living and survive the day”, I CHOOSE to succeed in life. That’s why I SEEK OPPORTUNITY not “security”.
I seek and listen to and follow SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE, people who ALREADY have the life that I want. The SUCCESSFUL LIFE that I’ve always wanted.

That’s why I CHOOSE to work for myself.
I choose to become financially independent.
I choose to have FREEDOM for the rest of my life!

This is MY realization and MY reflection – which you can take with you to ponder.

And here’s my question to you:

Anong gagawin mo kung ikaw ang nakarealize ng mga narealize ko na to?
Do you know what you really want and where are you going in life?
What are your PLANS on how to get there?
WHO’S GOING WITH YOU in that direction?

Stop relying on what you think “you know” and instead LOOK at your results.

THINK, REFLECT & MAKE A REALITY CHECK.
