1PESO Philippines English Series Bank Notes

The 1 peso Philippine banknote featuring Apolinario Mabini was part of the English Series, which was the first banknote series issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines. It was printed from 1951 and remained in circulation until it was demonetized in 1974. The banknote featured Mabini on the front and the Barasoain Church on the back.

2002 10 PESO COIN COUNTERFEIT / FAKE

Counterfeiting Philippine coins is a serious crime punishable by imprisonment and fines. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is the sole authority for issuing and regulating currency in the Philippines. If you suspect a coin is counterfeit, you can surrender it to the BSP or a law enforcement agency.

The Central Bank never thought someone would actually bother counterfeiting 10 peso coins. To their big surprise, some syndicates did take up the challenge and minted fake 5 and 10 peso coins. In one raid, they even seized 5 million pesos worth of 10 peso coins.

how to spot these fake coins:

•The fake coins are dated either 2001 or 2002. Be more careful with coins bearing these dates.

•Fake coins stick to magnets. While the genuine coins are made up of an alloy of aluminum, copper, nickel, and zinc, the counterfeit ones are made of steel.

HARD TO FIND 2005 1 PESO COIN.

The 2005 Philippine 1-peso coin is not particularly rare or valuable in terms of its face value, but it's a popular item among Filipino coin collectors due to its relatively short production run in the older copper-nickel composition. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) changed the metal composition of the 1-peso coin to nickel-plated steel in 2006 to combat smuggling. This change makes the 2005 coin a somewhat sought-after piece for collectors interested in the older composition.

Smuggling Issue:
The BSP decided to change the composition to nickel-plated steel in May 2006 to discourage the smuggling of coins for their metal content.

Composition Change:
The 1-peso coin was initially made of 75% copper and 25% nickel from 1995 to early 2006.

Rarity:
While not extremely rare in terms of the total number minted, the 2005 coin is harder to find in circulation compared to later years when the composition changed.
