HOW TO WASH UKAY CLOTHES PROPERLY?
Numerous people are hesitant to buy ukay-ukay clothes because of health concerns. At first, that was my concern too but if you wash Ukay clothes properly, they are safe to wear and good as new. So now let me share to you my own way of washing my Ukay clothes:
You will need:
Hot water
Warm water
Stick or Stirrer
Basin
Detergent Powder with Germ Killer Formula
Detergent Bar
Fabric Softener (Preferably Antibac)
Procedure:
Pour the hot water in the basin then add the detergent powder. Stir it using a stick or stirrer until the detergent powder is fully dissolved. Once the powder is already dissolved, put the U-clothes and leave it there until the hot water becomes warm.
Once the hot water is already warm, hand-wash the clothes lightly especially the delicate areas of the Ukay clothes (like armpit, neck, thighs, and waist)
Put the clothes in another basin with warm water and dissolved detergent powder and leave it there for 10 minutes or so.
Wash the Ukay clothes properly this time and don’t miss the delicate parts.
After completing the necessary steps when washing Ukay clothes, do not forget to soak it in water with fabric conditioner. You can use a regular fabric conditioner of your choice or use an Antibac fabric conditioner.
After doing the entire process, hang the Ukay clothes and air dry them. I prefer air drying rather than sun drying, but the latter is also okay (they say it also kills germs; also, I think sun drying is alright for denims or bed sheets). But it is up to you which method you’re going to use.
After doing this hand-wash procedure, you can already use a washing machine next time and wash your Ukay clothes the way you wash the rest of your clothes.
