Our shop has been closed for a week as Cebu continues to recover from the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino. We all came prepared for the strong winds, but none of us expected the floods to be this overwhelming and bring such widespread damage. Entire communities were washed away overnight, leaving families with nothing but what they could carry, and perhaps, the strength to start over.
With the amount of spare clothing we had on hand, we carefully gathered, sorted, and packed them along with food supplies and other daily necessities to be given to the saints in Talisay and others severely affected by the typhoon. It’s a small way for us to extend help and warmth to those who are still struggling to get back on their feet. At times like this, it’s comforting to see how everyone still shows up for one another despite everything.
But it’s painful to witness how preventable tragedies like this continue to happen. The people did their part and prepared, yet once again we are left picking up the pieces. Cebu will always “bangon”, but we shouldn’t have to keep rebuilding from the same pain. Accountability should have been our shield long before this storm came. How many more lives have to be washed away before real action is taken?
Stop lining your pockets while people lose everything. Jail the corrupt! Pray for Cebu 🙏🏻
