MARAMING SALAMAT! This pop-up was truly powered by community — by pakikipagkapwa. 🫶🇵🇭🇦🇺

For the past three days, you showed up with open hearts to listen, exchange stories, learn about Philippine textiles, bond over Lola memories and a shared love for sinigang, and to touch our fabrics the way our ancestors once embraced them as a second skin.

It fills our hearts and makes us kilig to the bones knowing that we are growing a community of Proud Weave Wearers taking root in Australia. Every conversation, every story shared, and every weave carried home is a thread connecting us back to our heritage and to one another.

To our wonderful hosts, Taguan Cafe and MAGENTA HOUSE — thank you for opening your doors, becoming our home away from home, and making us feel so embraced as part of the Bebot Barkada family. It has been deeply inspiring to witness Filipino creatives uplifting one another, proving that when we come together and wear our Filipino hearts on our sleeves, we are powerful and free.

There could not have been a more meaningful way to celebrate Independence Day weekend.

For the past nine years, this ANTHILL thread installation of the Philippine flag has stood as a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who fought for our freedom—and to the many Filipinos who continue to shape our nation’s future.

As we commemorate 128 years of Philippine Independence, we reflect on the enduring meaning of freedom: not only as a milestone in our history, but as a shared responsibility we carry forward through compassion, participation, and collective action.

FROM WEAVE TO WEAR

Before they became aprons, they were threads carefully woven by the artisans of Hablon ni Lauriana into custom fabrics created exclusively for our collaboration with MAGENTA HOUSE.

Inspired by gathering, sharing meals, and building community around the table, these limited-edition half aprons are a celebration of the stories that connect us—from the loom in Argao to homes and creative spaces in Sydney.

Launching first at the BEBOT BARKADA POP-UP, starting tomorrow. ✨

INGAT, a woven collaboration with .syd ☕️🇦🇺🇵🇭

For many Filipinos living far from home, one word often lingers at the end of every call, message, and goodbye: ingat.

More than a reminder to be careful, ingat is an expression of love, protection, and care sent across oceans and distances. It’s how we carry one another when we cannot be together.

Inspired by this deeply Filipino gesture, the INGAT Tote features woven accents of Binakol and Dasal printed on Tnalak, traditional protective patterns on a thoughtfully crafted versatile bag that can be worn as both a tote and a crossbody. This piece carries not only your essentials, but also the stories, memories, and connections that travel with us wherever we go.

AT HOME with .redfern 🤎🩷🇵🇭🇦🇺

Over the years, .redfern has become a cherished home for our Philippine weaves in Sydney. Through the many supper clubs, gatherings, and workshops she has lovingly hosted, our shared passions for food, culture, and community naturally found their way into a special collaboration.

Together, we co-designed a limited-edition apron collection, featuring custom weaves created exclusively for Magenta House and inspired by her signature palette of delicious, joyful colours.

This is our first test run, and these pieces will be available exclusively at the BEBOT BARKADA POP-UP this weekend.
