TL;DR: From a dorm corner in 2009 to a studio in 2013, Kyrie Kouture is now closing its doors indefinitely. I am heartbroken and deeply grateful for every client, model, partner, and friend who made this fairytale real.
From a small corner in my university dorm in 2009, making custom hair accessories and jewelry between classes, to opening our little studio in 2013, Kyrie Kouture has always been more than a business to me. It was my baby. It was my dream come true. It was a place where your wildest, fanciest, even wackiest ideas turned into something you could wear.
Over the years we dressed brides, grooms, debutantes, beauty queens, graduates, Titas , Titos, kiddos, babies, and barkadas. We worked with super talented models, ran four cycles of the Spark modeling workshop, created one-of-a-kind pieces for thousands of clients, supported multiple organizations, and raised money for charity. Every fitting, every event, every rushed alteration, every drop of blood from needle pricks and patch or bead work, every late night at the sewing machine meant we were part of your celebrations and your milestones.
Now that I’m here in Canada, with my career shifted into advertising, I’m so grateful because everything I know about creativity, production, and storytelling started with this shop, surrounded by fabric, fittings, and your stories.
Which is why this is one of the hardest posts I have ever had to write.
Kyrie Kouture is closing its doors indefinitely.
I feel sad because this chapter has shaped who I am, and at the same time I feel deeply grateful. Grateful for every client who trusted us with a dress for a once-in-a-lifetime moment, for every model who walked in our designs, for every parent who saved up to make their child feel like a fairytale for a night. For every brand that supported our workshops and events. For every friend who gave a referral. For everyone who has known and supported us all these years, even the ones who are now looking down on us from heaven.🥹
Like what we always say…
“Thank you for letting us be part of your fairytale,” your photos, your memories. Even if the studio is quiet now, the courage, color, and craft we built together will always travel with me into whatever comes next.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you,
Gensan. 💛
