On April 18, 2024, Rumi, driven by its commitment to sustainability and community, conducted a pillow-turnover event as part of its ๐ง๐ต๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ initiative at ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฝ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐ง๐๐ฑ๐๐๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ด๐ฒ๐ฑ, the second-to-last activity of the project.
Rumi chose this institution as the beneficiary with the goal of improving the lives of the elderly residents. The whole team felt a strong bond with the recipients, as all the seamstresses at Rumi were stay-at-home grandmothers, adding to the project's heartfelt purpose.
For this project, Rumi created and distributed ten hand-stitched pillows, ensuring that the elders in this institution received a gift of comfort tailored to their needs. Crafted with care and filled with fiber for maximum comfort, the pillows were made possible through funds from the recent fundraising pop-up market and support from various sponsors.
The event began with a speech from Prof. Melissa Mangali, the ENT114 adviser, followed by singing, dancing, and snacks enjoyed by the elderly residents. They received roses as tokens of appreciation. The administration of this institution, represented by Sr. Maria Antonia Rebusto, was honored with a token of appreciation and certificate. The program concluded with a closing speech by Marianila Julia Valdez, General Manager of Rumi.
This initiative was made possible through partnerships with the Department of Business and Innovation, MSU - IIT and Bishop Bienvenido Tudtud Home for the Aged for their warm welcome. Additionally, Rumi extended sincere gratitude to its monetary sponsors: Fu Dalu Agricultural Products Trading , and Councilor Queenie Belmonte. Special thanks also went to Mr. Zion Jerusalem, Mx. Jay Portallo, and Ms. Nathalia Balingit for their contribution.
As the project approached its culmination, Rumi eagerly anticipated the final activity: the Distribution of Clothes and Feeding Program at the Bajau Community in Brgy. Tambacan, Iligan City on April 28, 2024.
Through its ongoing efforts, Rumi embodied purpose-driven entrepreneurship, committed to 'Improving Lives Through Circularity' by fostering sustainability, compassion, and positive change in communities, one stitch at a time ๐ชก
