🌊🏝️ DENR reminds all resort owners and occupants along Siquijor’s coastline to comply with foreshore regulations and legal easement requirements. Non-compliance may result in penalties and legal action. ⚖️📋
📌 Based on DENR’s Foreshore Program inventory:
🏨 107 coastal resorts were assessed
⚠️ 84 resorts are operating without approved applications or proper documentation
🕒 23 resorts have pending Foreshore Lease Applications (FLAs)
🌱 PENRO Siquijor emphasized that DENR’s mandate under Executive Order No. 192 is to protect, conserve, and ensure the proper use of the country’s natural resources for present and future generations. 🌍
📖 Under existing laws, foreshore areas remain part of the public domain and may only be utilized through lease agreements, not land titling.
🚫 DENR also reiterates:
No construction activities should proceed while Foreshore Lease Applications are still under review.
📏 Legal easement requirements from the highest tide line:
🏙️ Urban areas – 3 meters
🌾 Rural areas – 20 meters
🌳 Timberland areas – 40 meters
🤝 Let us help preserve Siquijor’s coastal beauty through responsible development, legal compliance, and environmental stewardship. 💙🌴
