I didn't study Fashion design, but learned along the way that Gazar fabric was Christian Dior's third favorite fabric to use. Gazar, Developed in the 1950s by Balenciaga’s fabric house (Abraham in Switzerland), Dior also adopted it. The darling fabric of designers. ✨ Gazar – The Sculptural Classic
Texture & Look: Sheer but stiff silk (or silk blend) with a crisp hand. Lightweight compared to Mikado, but still structured.
Design Use: Favored for architectural gowns — dramatic ball gowns, clean A-lines, or couture silhouettes that need volume without heaviness.
Strengths:
Holds shape while staying light.
Has a delicate sheen, not overly shiny.
Perfect for avant-garde or sculptural couture.
Drawbacks:
Can look too stiff for clients wanting softer, romantic gowns.
Less common and pricier, so not always available.
Sheer yet crisp fabric perfect for sculptural designs.
