Proud of share that our very own AJ Raymundo (a participant of our on-going OPEN SESAME: collective residency program as part of spore/node) has been selected (from 490 applications spanning 83 countries) as a cohort laureate for Young Climate Prize 2026, a biennial award and platform for 25 under 25 artists, designers, researchers, organizers, etc working on climate issues! On the Edge is an ongoing artistic research project responding to the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network, a government expressway and d**e project disrupting marine habitat and reclaiming hundreds of hectares of Laguna de Bay, the Philippines’ largest freshwater lake. Since 2024, AJ Raymundo has worked with coastal fisherfolk communities, beginning in Taguig City and extending around the lake’s periphery. Through ethnographic research, community collaboration and artworks made with salvaged material, the project records how new infrastructure and ecological disruption alter both landscapes and everyday life, and how residents continue to live amid instability. Work from the project has been shown at Areté, the University of the Philippines, WHYNoT and the Rhode Island School of Design.
As the project’s sole artist-researcher, Raymundo conducts fieldwork with fisherfolk, develops multimedia work through salvaged material experimentation, and independently coordinates multidisciplinary exhibitions.
