“He should’ve studied Dragon Ball fight scenes”Dragon Ball editor Torishima criticizes Demon Slayer 😢

Kazuhiko Torishima, the legendary Dragon Ball editor who helped Akira Toriyama shape the manga’s iconic combat style, had some choice words for Demon Slayer, and he didn’t hold back. 😔

In a recent interview, Torishima said that Demon Slayer’s action scenes lack the dynamism and clarity found in Dragon Ball.

According to him, the manga’s editors should have told Koyoharu Gotouge to study how Toriyama constructed fight sequences.

“If Demon Slayer had fight scenes influenced by Dragon Ball, it would’ve been far more exciting.”

He went on to imply that Demon Slayer’s runaway success had more to do with the anime adaptation by ufotable than the manga itself:

“The manga was like raw beans. The anime roasted and brewed them into something people love.”
