𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴?
While floodwaters may recede, the health risks they leave behind can remain.
One of the most serious concerns is 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 — 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 that can be acquired 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 of infected animals, particularly rats.
With flooding affecting many communities during the rainy season, the risk of exposure increases significantly.
Be aware of common warning signs, including:
• Fever
• Headache
• Muscle Pain
• Red Eyes
• Nausea and Vomiting
Early recognition and timely medical attention are important. When diagnosed and managed promptly, serious complications affecting the kidneys, liver, lungs, and other vital organs may be prevented.
If you have recently been exposed to floodwater, monitor your health closely and seek medical advice if symptoms develop.
