FYI โผ๏ธ Dahil ayaw natin sa false claims โ๐ป
Honestly, the difference between SPF 30, 40, and 50 is actually smaller than most people think.
SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays
SPF 40 blocks about 97.5%
SPF 50 blocks about 98%
So even SPF 50 is NOT double the protection of SPF 25 or SPF 30. The increase becomes smaller as the SPF number goes higher. ๐ค
What matters MORE is:
โ๏ธ applying enough sunscreen
โ๏ธ reapplying every 2-3 hours
โ๏ธ using broad spectrum protection
โ๏ธ consistent daily use
A properly applied SPF 30 can protect better than an SPF 50 applied too thinly. ๐ค๐ค๐ค
SPF rating = UVB protection
Meaning, ito yung measurement kung gaano ka napo-protect ng sunscreen against UVB raysโฆ the rays mainly responsible for sunburn, skin redness, and skin damage from direct sun exposure. โบ๏ธ
Now, iba naman si PA rating. โจ
PA = protection against UVA rays
(UVA = โaging raysโ)
These are the rays linked to premature aging, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, collagen breakdown.
Japanese system/category yung PA rating:
โข PA+ = some UVA protection
โข PA++ = moderate
โข PA+++ = high
โข PA++++ = extremely high UVA protection
So ideally, your sunscreen should have BOTH:
โข SPF - UVB protection (sunburn)
โข PA - UVA protection (skin aging/pigmentation)
Kaya kapag naghahanap kayo ng sunscreenโฆ
DAPAT:
โ๏ธ SPF tested
โ๏ธ Broad spectrum
โ๏ธ May PA rating
โ๏ธ Registered and properly tested talaga
Because claims are easy to printโฆ but proper sunscreen testing matters MOST. ๐
Add ko lang din pala:
SUNโSCREENโ siya, not sunโBLOCK.โ ๐ค Because thereโs NO product that can completely block 100% of UV rays. Kaya mas accepted na ng FDA ngayon yung term na โsunscreenโ since it helps FILTER or SCREEN UV rays, not totally block them. Yun lang, Bye! ๐ค
