By appointment only. Nurturing a passion for fashion is like planting a seed in the ground.

It requires patience, care, and determination. Jerald Almadin Portugal knows this all too well. When he resigned from his job as a public school teacher in 2018, he knew that he wanted to pursue his passion for fashion. But he also knew that it would take time and effort to make it a reality. So he started by immersing himself in the world of fashion. He spent hours reading books and articles abou

t fashion, studying the latest trends, and sketching designs. He taught himself how to sew and experimented with different fabrics and textures. As time went on, his passion for fashion grew stronger. He found himself thinking about fashion all the time - in his dreams, in his conversations, in his quiet moments of reflection. He was consumed by his love for creating beautiful, wearable art. And then, in 2019, he got the opportunity to work as a fashion designer in Oman. It was a chance to take his passion to the next level, to learn from experienced designers and to hone his craft in a new environment. From 2020 to 2021, he served royal families and high-class clients, creating bespoke pieces that were both elegant and timeless. As a couture designer, He learned how to work with the most luxurious fabrics, intricate details, and delicate embellishments. He honed his skills in draping, pattern-making, and tailoring, ensuring that each piece he created was a work of art. Working abroad was a challenge, but it was also a source of inspiration for him. He was exposed to new cultures, new styles, and new ways of thinking about fashion. He learned to be adaptable and flexible, to embrace the unexpected and to push himself beyond his limits. And now, in 2022, Jerald has brought his passion for fashion back home with him. Almadin Couture is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and love for fashion. Each piece in his collection is a reflection of his unique vision and his unwavering commitment to his craft. For him, nurturing a passion for fashion is not just about creating beautiful clothes - it's about expressing himself, pushing boundaries, and making a mark on the world. And with Almadin Couture, he's doing just that.

DENIM DIALECTS: The Last Curtain Call

A collection which suggest a new way to โ€˜speakโ€™ through fabric and a tribute to lake Lanao (the heart of Maranao weaving) meeting the โ€˜seaโ€™ of indigo (denim) for my third and last stint for Pusaka Fashion Design Competition.

A couture spectacle: voluminous ruffles cascade from a dark denim base, while wing-like shoulders rise in sculptural grandeur. Langkit embroidery arcs diagonally across the gown, transforming it into a tapestry of heritage and resilienceโ€”warrior royalty translated into couture.

A blazer-and-skirt ensemble adorned with langkit motifs that cut across its denim canvas like woven insignias. Paired with a matching hat, gloves, and tie, it evokes ceremonial regaliaโ€”an outfit that speaks of leadership, heritage, and modern sophistication.

Structured in navy denim with gold buttons and a cinched waist, this dress is softened by vibrant Maranao langkit embroidery. It embodies resilience and rebellionโ€”discipline reimagined through heritage, where utilitarian strength meets cultural artistry.

A masterpiece in duality. A strapless mermaid gown features a transparent crinoline bodice framed by royal blue velvet, transitioning seamlessly into a stunning Mikado back. The crisp, architectural structure of the Mikado provides a regal contrast to the shimmering, hand-beaded sheer front. ๐Ÿ’™
