Introducing the "Seahorse Serenade" gown, an ethereal creation that captures the grace and whimsy of the ocean's gentle creatures. Delicate, cascading layers of iridescent fabric mimic the undulating movement of seaweed, while intricate beadwork and sequins sparkle like sunlight dancing on the waves. The bodice features elegant, swirling patterns reminiscent of seahorse tails, delicately embellished with pearls and crystals. A flowing train trails behind, resembling the graceful curve of a seahorse's tail as it glides through the sea. This gown is a tribute to the enchanting beauty found beneath the waves.

Maodan the Balut Keeper
Designer: Rogie Vergara

The Municipality of Carmen is renowned for its exotic delicacy, the fertilized duck egg known as “Balut,” which has brought fame to the Davao Region. Inspired by this unique cultural icon, this costume celebrates the essence of the Balut keepers, symbolized by the duck, a type of waterfowl.

The costume features key elements such as Mindanaoan fabric, hand-sewn glass beads, and brass bells, accentuated with black feathers and gold Swarovski crystals. Two large fans represent the wings of a fowl, and a golden egg, crafted from styrofoam and gold trimmings, serves as the focal point.

Maodan the Balut Keeper embodies the strength and resilience of an empowered woman. Despite life's challenges and struggles, she safeguards the most precious asset – the future of the next generation, symbolized by the Golden Egg Balut. Just as we must protect our Mother Earth, Maodan is the vigilant keeper of her Golden Egg.
