Ang Cataract ay isang kondisyon kung saan lumalabo ang lente ng mata. Kapag malabo na ang lente, nahihirapan ang mata na magpokus ng malinaw na larawan kaya malabo o parang may ulap ang paningin.

🔎 Mga Dahilan Kung Bakit Nagkaka-Cataract ang Isang Tao ❗
1️⃣ Pagtanda (Pinaka-karaniwang dahilan)
Habang tumatanda, unti-unting nagiging malabo ang natural na lente ng mata.
2️⃣ Matagal na may Diabetes
Ang mga may Diabetes ay mas mataas ang tsansa na magkaroon ng cataract.
3️⃣ Matagal na Bilad sa Araw
Ang sobrang exposure sa ultraviolet (UV) rays mula sa araw ay nakakasira sa lente ng mata.
4️⃣ Paninigarilyo at Pag-inom ng Alak
Ang mga kemikal mula sa sigarilyo at alak ay maaaring makasira sa mata.
5️⃣ Pinsala sa Mata
Ang aksidente o matinding tama sa mata ay maaaring magdulot ng cataract.
6️⃣ Side Effect ng Ilang Gamot
Halimbawa ang matagal na paggamit ng steroid medicines.
7️⃣ Namamana (Genetics)

✔️ Regular Eye Check-up
Para makita kung gaano kalala ang cataract.
✔️ Paggamit ng Salamin (sa maagang stage)
Minsan nakakatulong muna ang eyeglasses para luminaw ang paningin.

Kapag malala na, ang solusyon ay operasyon kung saan papalitan ang malabong lente ng artificial lens. Ito ang pinaka-mabisang paraan para maibalik ang malinaw na paningin.

✔️ Magsuot ng sunglasses kapag maaraw
✔️ Kumain ng pagkain na may Vitamin A at antioxidants (carrots, malunggay, kalabasa)

✔️ Kontrolin ang blood sugar kung may diabetes
✔️ Magpa-eye checkup kahit walang nararamdaman

✅ Mahalagang Paalala:
Ang cataract ay hindi nawawala sa gamot o patak sa mata. Kapag malala na, operasyon lamang ang tunay na lunas.

Many people mistakenly think of “20/20” as perfect or normal vision. However, it is only a measure of how someone can see a certain size letter on the eye chart at a distance of 20 feet.

The eye chart tells us how well a child can see letters on the board in school, but it does not tell us anything about how well the eyes function when reading and learning.
