It's been weeks since we posted about the fundraising, we apologize for the delay of posting updates about where all the donations and help go. The team has been very busy with ground works, and extending help to the community for the past days.
The first week after the typhoon was very challenging. There was inadequate supply for drinking water on the Island. Some people were drinking from wells and relying on coconut water to quench their thirst. Due to unsafe source of drinking water, vast number of people on the island especially kids suffered from mild to severe diarrhea.
Seeing this everyday was heartbreaking. We couldn't just sit still, we knew we have to do something. We teamed up with people who also have the burning desire to to help. We asked some business owners if they're willing to lend out their tanks and Generator sets, gladly they're kind enough to lend it out. With all the collaborated efforts, we were able to help power up refilling stations so they can produce safe drinking water for everyone. Special thanks to and for doing an amazing job with the ground works, team for doing the biggest work, for being the best coordinator, for the transpo during ground works.
We were also able to distribute medical supplies to field hospitals around siargao island, relief goods, and solar powered lights. Thanks to the medical mission team .
The remaining money is allocated to help rebuild some houses that are greatly affected by the Typhoon. Will post more details soon about this project.
All these wouldn't be possible without the generousity of the people who extended help. Thank you so much for the fundraising initiative in Austria. .ph for your donation. Goodlife foundation and volunteers for all your efforts. We can't mention everyone, but to all of you who responded to our call for help, know that no words can express how grateful we are.
In a span of 1 month we have so far made a lot of people in the community smile. The smiles that gives hope to the island.
