Before saying “God hates homosexuality” and citing Genesis 19, let’s actually read the whole story.
In the Book of Genesis 19, the sin of S***m wasn’t a loving same-sex relationship. It was a violent mob attempting gang r**e. That’s about abuse, humiliation, and power — not orientation.
And the Bible itself explains S***m’s sin later.
Book of Ezekiel 16:49 says S***m was guilty of:
• Pride
• Arrogance
• Prosperity without helping the poor
• Neglecting the needy
That’s social injustice.
Epistle of Jude 1:7 talks about sexual immorality and “unnatural desire,” but in context it refers to humans trying to violate angelic beings — crossing boundaries — not consensual same-sex love.
So if we’re going to use Scripture, let’s use it accurately.
Violence? Condemned.
Injustice? Condemned.
Pride and oppression? Condemned.
But reducing Genesis 19 to “God hates gay people” ignores what the text actually says.
If we care about truth, we should care about context too.
