DON’T DESPISE SMALL BEGINNINGS
Are you also in a season ng pagsisimula?
Maybe you're taking small steps toward something God has placed in your heart, but somehow, you feel na ang insignificant ng mga ginagawa mong hakbang.
You tend to compare your situation sa iba. And when you look at them, nakikita mo na yung pinapangarap mong result, while you're still here, taking what feels like tiny steps.
And sometimes, you can't help but wonder,
"May patutunguhan ba talaga 'to?"
There's a beautiful reminder in Zechariah 4:10:
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
The context is important.
God was speaking to the Jews who had returned from exile and were rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem.
Compared to Solomon's magnificent temple, this new temple seemed small and unimpressive. Because of that, many people were discouraged by what they saw.
But God says,
“Do not despise these small beginnings.”
In other words, don't look down on what may seem small simply because it doesn't look impressive yet.
The mention of Zerubbabel holding the plumb line is significant. A plumb line was a construction tool used to make sure that a building was straight.
Think about it—this wasn't the completed temple. It wasn't even a major milestone that people would celebrate. It was simply one of the very first small steps in the construction process.
There was still a long way to go.
To many people, that moment could have seemed insignificant.
But God rejoiced to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand because it meant the work had begun.
Isn't that encouraging?
God delights not only in the finished work, but also in the faithful obedience that takes the next step.
Even when your progress seems small, He sees it.
Even when others overlook it, He sees it.
And He rejoices in it. ❤️
So if you're in a season where everything feels small, don't despise it.
Your small steps of obedience matter.
Your quiet growth matters.
That little step toward what God has called you to matters.
That act of faithfulness that nobody else sees matters.
Because God doesn't measure faithfulness by how impressive something looks to other people.
And notice what God says earlier in this same chapter:
“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” — Zechariah 4:6
The rebuilding of the temple would not ultimately depend on human strength or resources, but on God's Spirit.
Likewise, God's work in our lives is not sustained by our own strength alone, but by His grace and power at work within us.
So if you're in a season where everything feels small, take heart.
You don't have to rush into someone else's season.
You don't have to despise your beginning because someone else is already seeing the result you're praying for.
Rejoice where God has placed you today.
Be faithful with what He has entrusted to you.
Take the next step.
And trust God with the process.
You may not see the finished work yet, but you can trust the One who is working.
So keep going.
Keep obeying. Keep trusting. Keep building.
Don't despise your small beginnings.
Because what may look small in your eyes is not insignificant in the hands of God. ❤️
