The T'nalak weave is a fabric made through a tedious process that has been passed down from several generations of the T'boli tribe, spanning hundreds of years. The same process has been preserved and is being used today by the T'boli women from Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, who are also called the "dream weavers."

The dream weavers tie-dye and weave the fabric, creating mystical patterns that are brought to their dreams by the spirit of the abaca, Fu Dalu. From their dreams, they recall these patterns and weave them by hand them into reality.
Despite their rich history, Philippine indigenous people are among the poorest and most disadvantaged group in the country. Lake Sebu, where the dream weavers are, is one of the poorest towns in Mindanao. The communities from which the T'nalak weave originate from rely on the sale of the fabrics to earn a living especially in these trying times.

MASK FOR A CAUSE is an effort to respond to the new necessity brought by the new normal by showcasing and celebrating indigenous culture. We invite everyone to support our dream weavers as we navigate through each day with extra care and caution. Together, we can be safe while uplifting different communities and highlighting the beauty, strength, and reliability of our local products.

Why support products made from the Philippines? 🇵🇭

Choosing to patronize local products creates a ripple effect of support. As consumers, we get to satisfy our needs and demands from the products created by fellow Filipinos. These people, in turn, support other Filipino producers, especially ones who produce raw materials, from different areas and islands in our country. Supporting local products uplifts the community, especially during challenging times.

An example of communities being uplifted by choosing local products are the indigenous communities, particularly those that create artisan products such as weaves. Phlippine weaves are some of the distinctly local products that exhibit the artistry and diversity of our indigenous culture. The process of creating Philippine weaves take effort, skill, and devotion on the part of the weavers from different indigenous communities. It is a centuries-old tradition that is one of its kind and that we should all take pride in.

Buying Philippine made products go beyond supporting local makers. It is a celebration of Philippine art, craft, and history. Locally-made products are sturdy and meticulously-crafted. The materials used are of high quality and sourced from different producers in our agriculturally-rich country. These products are great value for hard-earned money.

We, at Tatak Salud, are one with the indigenous community in promoting their artistry by integrating the same with modern designs.

In these line of masks, we used “P*s Syabit”, a handwoven textile, woven by the Tausugs, made from silk or cotton, and is marked by intricate geometric patterns. Each pattern made is unique.

Traditionally, P*s Syabit is worn as headdress or accessory by men and warriors. It symbolizes the wearer’s elevated position in the society. Nowadays, it is also worn by women not only for its traditional use, but also as an accessory in modern fashion.

Our LIMITED EDITION P*s Syabit facemasks are now available for pre-order!
