The small biscuits topped with pink, yellow, white or green icing Called Iced Gem Biscuits, they were first made by Huntley and Palmer of Reading, Britain in the 1850s. That was just the biscuit bottom. The icing was added in 1910. According to NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown.com, the biscuits were an experiment with new biscuit technology. They can be found in several countries..

Gem biscuits are believed to be sold in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Ireland and Britain. They are made by Jacobs, McVitie's and Rich Garden and Khong Guan.

The colours of the toppings vary according to countries

The ones in Singapore feature bright coloured toppings, while the ones overseas are either muted in colour, or fruit-flavoured. The flavours include lemon.

The biscuit is usually made using plain flour, unsalted butter, egg, sugar, golden syrup and salt, and the icing is made using meringue powder, icing sugar and water. They have an official page

There is a page dedicated to Iced Gem biscuits that has more than 90,000 likes. It is the official page started by Ritz Food Corporation, a Philippine-owned company under which the Rich Garden and Khong Guan labels are.

Wonder Boy is round garlicky chips, thin and crispy with Doritos like texture. (or maybe not) It is wrapped in a white plastic with a print like the picture below. A single plastic usually contains two round chips which will make you go for more. This is not the usual one peso chichiria you'll find in the retail store, it's a little expensive, it was at first P1, then P1.50, then P2, while until now everything else still costs P1.

Lala Milk Chocolate has been making local chocoholics happy for over 40 years. In an interview , the makers and owners of the brand say Lala was invented by their father, Salvacion Bernal, who moved to Bulacan from Bicol in the early 1970s. The product itself is made from pure milk and cocoa. And as for the name, it’s simply an acronym for the founder’s four children: Louie, Arlet, Luisa, and Arlene

. Pompoms Cheese Flavored Curls – Another classic pinoy snack from the 80’s that we can still enjoy today is Pompoms. Dubbed as the “poor man’s Cheese Curls”, Pompoms is one of the few old-timers still available today. This salty but yummy Pinoy chicheria reminds us of those carefree days of watching afternoon kiddie shows.

Bazooka bubble gum was first marketed shortly after World War II in the U.S. by the Topps Company of Brooklyn, New York. The gum was probably named after the rocket-propelled weapon developed by the U.S. army during the war, which itself was named after a musical instrument.

The bubble gum was packaged in a red, white, and blue color scheme and originally sold for 1 penny. Beginning in 1953, Topps changed the packaging to include small comic strips with the gum, featuring the character "Bazooka Joe". There are over 1,535 different "Bazooka Joe" comic-strip wrappers to collect.[3] Also on the comic strip is an offer for a premium and a fortune.[4] Older Bazooka Joe comic strips were larger in size and are no longer available

Doublemint is a variety of chewing gum made by the Wrigley Company; according to early advertisements, it is "double strength" peppermint flavored.

The first bubble gum that actually blew into reliable bubbles and was sold in stores was Dubble Bubble bubble gum, introduced in 1928 by the Fleer chewing Gum Company of Philadelphia. Earlier, in 1906, the owner of the company, Frank Fleer, had attempted to market a bubble gum under the name of Blibber-Blubber. Unfortunately, this early bubble gum would end up all over the chewer’s face. What’s more, it could only be removed from the face with turpentine.
