Ang dengue fever ay umaatake sa katawan ng anim (6) na araw. Halimbawa, nagkaroon si Juan ng dengue ng Linggo, ang ikaanim na araw ay Sabado. Kapag nilagnat ng Linggo, dapat 3 days or less, magpaospital na ang pasyente. Dahil ito ay lubhang delikado, kinakailangan na malagyan na siya ng dextrose. Umaatake ang dengue ng 6 days. Ang dengue virus ay nagdudulot ng maraming butas sa blood vessels kung kaya't nauubusan ng platelet at tubig ang pasyente. Kapag bumaba ang platelet count at tuluyang nadehydrate ang pasyente, nagdudulot ito ng kamatayan.
