✂️ The CGS Guide to a Perfect Fit: Knowing the Difference! ✂️
Hello, CGS Fam! 👋
Whether we are crafting your company uniform, a custom suit, or a special dress, our goal is for you to look and feel amazing.
To ensure a smooth journey from that first measurement to the final fitting, we want to share our general shop guide on the difference between an Adjustment and a Modification.
Understanding this helps us manage expectations and get you the best results! 💙
✅ 1. ADJUSTMENT (The "Tweak") These are minor finishing touches to make the garment fit your body correctly, based on the original design we agreed upon.
What it is: Nipping in a waist that’s slightly loose, hemming trousers to the perfect shoe height, or shortening sleeves by an inch.
Cost: Usually FREE (especially if it’s to correct workmanship) or a nominal fee for personal preference tweaks.
Timeline: Quick! usually 3–7 days.
🔄 2. MODIFICATION (The "Change") This happens when you want to change the design, style, or structure after the garment has already been cut or completed.
What it is: Deciding you want long sleeves instead of short sleeves, adding pockets that weren't in the original sketch, or major resizing due to weight changes.
Important Example: "Can you change the chest from 32 inches to 35 inches?"
Why this is a Modification: Going up 3 inches is like jumping 2 whole sizes! Since we cannot "grow" fabric once it is cut, this often requires replacing parts of the uniform or a total remake..
Cost: PAID. Because this involves new materials and significant labor, alteration or remake fees will apply.
Timeline: Takes longer (1–2 weeks).
💡 CGS Pro Tip: The best way to save time and avoid extra costs is to finalize all your design details and measurements before we start cutting the fabric!
