The Bureau of Customs has blood on its hands. By failing to curb smuggling of food products, it has directly allowed the inflation rate to reach its highest level in 14 years. This crisis, caused by skyrocketing food and energy prices, is directly at odds with the administration's agenda of food and energy security.

Instead of cracking down on food smugglers and protecting local farmers, the Bureau of Customs has allowed these heartless unscrupulous individuals to go around the law, further corrupt the agency and callously contribute to the suffering of the people.

It is time for the Bureau of Customs to take responsibility for this crisis and take immediate action and hail smugglers to court, support local farmers, and ensure food and health security for the nation. Anything less is a betrayal of public trust and a shameless upfront to the administration's oft-vaunted goals.
