It's an honor to be chosen to be the official designer for this year's Flores De Maria. To the Grand Hermana Louise Samantha and to Bokal Bernadeth Olivares thank your trust and for letting me be part of your journey.. 1 month and 1 weeks preparation for Hermanas gown, 8 Ave Maria and 8 Little Hiyas is not an easy task but we did it.

‎She does not walk into the room — she blooms into it.

‎The Filipiniana Gown is inspired from the hour when day exhales and night leans in to listen. Ivory silk, soft as dusk-kissed petals, falls in layers like the unfolding of a thousand Sampaguita buds, each fold releasing an invisible fragrance. The bodice is a corset of crystal Sampaguita vines, the beads clustered tight like unopened blossoms, catching light the way dew catches the last gold of the sun.

‎At her tale, the fabric deepens into molten golden yellow fabric— the exact color of sunlight melting into the horizon. It moves like warmth. Like a sigh. When she turns.

‎The Sampaguita droplets on her skirt symblolises the reach garden of Sampaguita during sunset that blooms and gives a sweet, intoxicating scent during the golden hour.
‎
‎This is not just a gown. It’s a bottled sunset. It’s the moment the garden holds its breath, and the Sampaguita, shy all day, finally surrenders her perfume to the cooling air.

The Sinulog Festival Queen stands as the living icon of Cebu’s devotion to the Santo Niño — the Child Jesus — and Lakambini 7's costume is both prayer and performance. When sampaguita is chosen as the central embellishment, the gown becomes a fragrant offering, a distinctly Filipino expression of Catholic faith woven in fabric and flower.
‎
‎The costume traditionally follows the mestiza or traje de boda silhouette — a regal, cathedral-like form that commands reverence. The bodice is fitted like a reliquary, sculpted to evoke the Sto. Niño’s vestments, while the skirt balloons into a sweeping maria clara train that mimics the flow of a devotee’s procession.
‎
‎The Sinulog Queen in sampaguita is not just a beauty titleholder. She is Juana, the first Filipino Christian convert, reborn. She is the Philippines in prayer — crowned with humility, draped in promises, and perfumed with a love that has bloomed for over 500 years since Magellan gifted the Santo Niño to Queen Humamay.

‎As she moves, she carries the cathedral on her back, the rosary in her hands, and the nation’s devotion in every sampaguita bud: “Pit Señor! Santo Niño, kaloy-i kami.”
