My heart ached upon hearing the news of what happened to Afghanistan. For years, civilians have greatly suffered from this tyranny. And my heart goes out, most especially, to the women and young children who are being forced into sexual slavery.

Let us also pray for the Christian churches in Afghanistan. Over 90% are Muslims, and with Taliban taking over, they are in grave danger.

Let us all take this time to pray for them. 🙏

Sharing with you my devotion a few days ago.

It hit home. Every word read went piercing through me. I didn't realize, then, how much of media I consume everyday. And sadly, it took my focus away from my family and from God.

As much as I hate to admit it, I spend most of my time on the phone, may it be for business or leisure. Looks harmless, right? But as John Piper puts it,

"Sin is consistently destigmatized and normalized in what Christians watch with pleasure. The church that regularly makes the world the source of its relaxation and enjoyment must become a worldly church. And a worldly church is a powerless church."

To be a Christian in this entertainment-saturated world means to set aside worldly pleasures and, in Apostle Paul's words,

"Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." (Colossians 3:2)
