The third trimester…

where your body feels heavier
your steps feel slower
and even the simplest things take more effort than before

you’re carrying more than just a baby now
you’re carrying the final stretch
the anticipation
the nerves
the “any day now” feeling

sleep doesn’t come easy anymore
you turn from side to side
counting the hours instead of resting through them

your back aches
your feet swell
your breath gets shorter
and some days… you just feel done

but at the same time

this is where it all becomes real

the little kicks feel stronger
the movements more familiar
like they’re saying
“i’m almost ready to meet you”

you start imagining their face
their cry
the moment they’re finally placed in your arms

and suddenly
all the discomfort
all the waiting

feels like it’s leading somewhere beautiful

this part isn’t easy
it’s raw
it’s exhausting
it’s emotional

but it’s also the beginning of the end
of carrying them inside you

because soon…

you won’t be counting kicks anymore
you’ll be counting little fingers
kissing tiny cheeks
and holding the life you’ve been growing

and somehow
you’ll miss this part too
