"LORD, ANG HIRAP PO NILANG MAHALIN.
I GIVE UP!"
I was encouraged to write this because someone messaged me and said that even though He is already a Christian, napapagod na siyang mahalin ang mga taong hindi naman daw kamahal-mahal. And honestly, that kind of honesty matters.
Maybe you've felt it too.
"Lord, ang hirap nilang mahalin... Suko na ako.!"
Not because you hate them. Not because you don't care anymore. Pero dahil pagod ka na. You tried to understand them. You tried to adjust. You tried to respond with patience. But it feels like ikaw lang ang laging nag-a-adjust. Over time, that can drain even a sincere heart.
And here's the reality: loving people is not always easy. Especially when they hurt you, misunderstand you, or tail to meet your expectations.
But in moments like this, God gently reminds us of something.
When we say others are hard to love, we should also remember that we were not always easy to love either. May mga panahon na matigas tayo. May mga decisions tayo na hindi pleasing sa Kanya. May mga pagkakataon na paulit-ulit tayong nagkamali, yet He remained patient. Amen?
Romans 5:8 says,
"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Hindi tayo minahal after we improved. Minahal tayo habang incomplete at magulo pa tayo.
That truth humbles me.
Because the standard of our love for others should not come from their behavior, but from the gracs we personally receive every day.
If God only loved us when we were easy, none of us would be secure.
But His love is not dependent on convenience.
That does not mean you ignore boundaries. It does not mean you tolerate disrespect or allow people to abuse your kindness. Wisdom is still necessary. But bitterness is not the answer. When we let frustration turn into resentment, it slowly changes our character.
Maybe the real invitation is this: before you decide to give up on loving people, remember how you were loved first.
You don't love others because they are perfect.
You love because you were loved despite your imperfections.
So when it feels hard, instead of saying, "I give up," maybe the right prayer is,
"Lord, remind me how You loved me. Heal my heart so / can love wisely and sincerely." 🥹❤️‍🩹
Because the love you receive from God is steady, consistent, and patient... and that same grace can shape how you respond to others.
You don't have to force it.
You just have to stay close to the One who loved you first... 🤍✝️
