I went to the mall today, and I couldn't help but notice that there were only about four colors of shoes on display: beige, brown, black, and white.
It made me nostalgic for the days when the shelves were filled with a wider variety of colors and unique designs. Back then, I always looked forward to finding the perfect pair of shoes to match my outfits, and it was such a fun part of my shopping experience. It was the same vibe when I went to the club recently – I saw a lot of the same styles and colors in the outfits people were wearing.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but I just felt a little disappointed when I was shopping. I wanted to find shoes and clothes with more variety, but it seemed like everything was so similar in both design and color.
It is basically a monochrome wonderland now—beige, brown, black, and white. Where did all the fun colors go? I miss the days when I could get hyped up to color-coordinate my outfits, from rocking leopard print to flaunting sparkly, shimmery skirts or those fabulous tube tops.
And don’t even get me started on how exciting it was to head out and see what other ladies were wearing—I'd practically be doing a full-on style inspection, mentally giving out awards for the best looks of the night.
Now, though, it’s like every store is stuck in a neutral zone. I really hope that as I get older, we’ll somehow return to those good old days when we had more options and a splash of colors to choose from.
You know, when a pop of neon or a funky pattern wasn’t considered "too bold" and every outfit felt like a little personal statement. Fingers crossed for a colorful comeback!
Am I just being dramatic, or have I officially turned into a "back in my day" person? Hahhh, maybe I'm just getting old!
