Worn by soldiers, embraced by rebels: the π»-πππππ'π journey through history.
The π»-πππππ originated as underwear for soldiers during the Spanish-American War in the late 19th century. It became acceptable as a public garment in the 1920s and was adopted by the US Navy as standard issue underwear during World War II. In the 1950s, it became a symbol of rebellion and counterculture. In the 1960s, tie-dye and screen-printed T-shirts became popular as a form of self-expression and political statement. Today, the T-shirt is a ubiquitous item of clothing worn by people of all ages and backgrounds.
