The history of Topi and Ajrak goes back hundreds of years and has its roots in Indus Valley Civilization. For people of Sindh, topi and ajrak are not the only day to day outfits, but also a sense of pride and identity. Topi: Typically, it is circular shaped with an arc cut from the forehead like a half-moon. Intricate geometrical designs are embroidered on the hat, and very often small pieces of mirror and gemstones are sewed into it. Ajrak: Ajrak is a unique form of shawls made using block-printing by stamps. They come in multiple colors particularly red, blue, yellow, and green. Ajrak designs are being used in different ways: men wind it around their shoulders, women wear it as a scarf, shawl, and shirt. Bed sheets are being made out of ajrak cloth.
