Twin Palms Golf

Twin Palms Golf Golf apparel brand and community bringing caribbean flavor to golf fashion. Twin Palms Golf is a golf apparel and accessories brand from Puerto Rico.

We bring fresh and clean designs to the course, to make you feel better about your style. Hopefully that translates over to your short game! We at TPG play most of our golf in Puerto Rico, and something we notice is most people are wearing shirts with cool designs and all, but none of those designs ever represent the people of Puerto Rico. This is what we at TPG have set out to fix. We are committ

ed to come out with cool, youthful, and fun designs that speak to the Puerto Rican golfer. Our motivation is the idea that golfers across the world want to feel like they are part of something more, something big, and that's why we are here. We are not only an apparel brand, we are a community.

Where should the golf ball be positioned?

It all depends on the club you are using!

Driver normally requires you to place the ball further forward on your stance, more or less in line with the big toe of your leading foot.

Three wood is set a little behind that of the driver, aligning it with the internal aspect of the heel of your leading foot.

Then we move to the hybrids, where we want to place the ball in line with your chest pocket and arm pit forward on your stance.

Your 4-6 iron require the ball to be a in line with your leading chest pocket.

7-Pitching wedge use the ball placed in the middle of your stance.

Sand & Lob wedges can vary in ball position, as it depends on the kind of shot you want to play. Most of the time placing it in the middle of your stance will be just fine. However, you should place the ball further back in your stance if on a downward slope, and further forward on your stance if on an upslope.

Can golf clubs get waterlogged?

Absolutely!

Golf balls, although made of very durable materials intended to resist multiple hits and scuffs, if left submerged under water long enough will get damaged. The outer layer will eventually crack and degrade, causing the ball to suck in moister/water and get waterlogged. The dimples might even erode off the coating and basically cause it to be unplayable.

We would recommend you use new balls, if you want to stay consistent with your flight pattern, launch angle, distances, and various other important parts of your game!

How do golf clubs work?

Golf clubs are all made with a degree of “loft”. Loft is the angle created between the clubface and the ground. The more loft a golf club has the higher the ball will launch. This is beneficial as it helps players get the ball up on the air. This is specially true for players with slower swings, which need a little more help getting flight from their clubs.

Another important aspect of the golf club is its grooves. It has grooves on the face (part that faces the ball and target) of the club, which help produce the spin of the ball. The grooves also allow you to launch the ball higher or lower depending on the swing you use to hit the ball.

Not all clubs are created the same, but they all have these two important components to their design; providing players with the ability to wack the ball and get it up in the air!

Why are golf gloves worn on the opposite hand?

For righty’s, when gripping a golf club, you want to use your left hand to grip the end of the golf club closest to the butt of the grip. You then use your right hand to grip lower ahead on the clubs’ grip.

This is done so as to use your left hand-arm complex as a pendulum that swings the club back and forth. Your right hand is then used to stabilize the club throughout the swing and at impact; almost as if it were guiding it through the movement.

Because most of the force being applied from your swing to the club is happening through the left hand, you wear a glove on it so you can have a better grip, and reduce the amount of friction from the movement of the club. It also helps reduce the amount of moister being passed onto the golf clubs’ grip. No one wants to grab a sweaty golf grip and have a club slip off their hands post swing.

This is also true in the inverse for lefty’s. As you stand on the opposite side of the ball, you grip the club with your gloved right hand up on the grip. Then you place your left hand closer to the choke of the grip below the right hand!

Why do golf balls have dimples?

The dimples on a golf ball are designed to help give the ball more distance and flight control. These dimples create a turbulence of air round the ball that acts a pocket or a coating, which the ball “uses” to traverse the air at a higher speed and for a longer distance.

Its important to note that they are also used for launch, so as to give the ball the desired launch angle on impact with the club head. Spin is also affected by these dimples, as they give the ball a proper surface to interact with the air and the club head.

Will golf clubs rust?

Golf clubs will absolutely rust if left in very humid places. It is important to keep your golf clubs clean and dry when storing them, so that the shafts don’t rust/corrode. Rust could result in a weakened shaft, which could break as it has contact with the ground on impact.

A good way to ensure you keep your clubs rust free, is to clean them every time you use them after your round with some soapy water, then dry them off with a microfiber towel. Then store them in your golf bag with its rain cover on. This will prevent dust and water particles from falling and settling on them.

Keeping a humidity absorbent near by to your clubs could also help reduce the chances of rust while storing them!

When talking about graphite shafts, a rusty shaft is a non-issue, but good maintenance of your clubs will ultimately help prolong its durability. This will in turn help reduce the probability of rust forming on the club heads themselves!

Some clubs, like wedges, often have a raw and unfinished section to the face of the club. This is purposely done and sold this way so that the grooves rust, and provide that extra level of spin to the ball.

How does golf scoring work?

As you go throughout your round, count every stroke you make that has contact with the ball. Start off on the tee box, and finish with your putt to the hole. Add all the strokes from every hole at the end of your match. The total will be your score. You can then compare that to the course par. If you are above that number, you can describe your score as “+ #” or “ # over par”. If by the end of the round your score is bellow par, it would then be described as the opposite, “- #” or “ # under par”!

“Par” is the number of strokes a first class player should normally require to complete a hole or course.

If and when your ball falls into a water hazard, out of bounds, is unplayable, or it has encountered a hazard, you can then take a penalty drop. (Excluding sand bunkers)
