Fabulous Three Kings Stained Glass by Arnaldo Maas

Arnaldo Maas is a Dutch artist born in 1909 who founded the Puerto Rican school of stained glass. He is listed, and can be found in museums and special collections. He lived a rich life - he was a priest who ran off with a Mexican Senorita. The Three kings on horses (not camels) is an important motif in Puerto Rican culture. A vibrant painting on opaline-pieced leaded glass. Good size-25 inched by 25 inches-add 2.5 inches all around for frame. Signed on the lower right corner and dated 1974. No condition problems or repairs.

Unusual 19th century Puerto Rican Three Kings figures! These are considered household saints and were painted over many times as a way to honor them. Horses were created with long camel legs and padded feet. Tails as well as manes on horses' foreheads are composed of silk threads, which is an unusual representation piece found in Puerto Rico.
Large 13.5 inches high-5 inches wide-16 inches long. A one of a kind and charming piece!
