Titus Urura, natural do Quénia, aprendeu a arte do junco aqui em Coz, com o Sr. Eurico. O seu papel, como ele próprio descreve, é ser uma ponte — entre culturas, entre gerações, entre o saber de quem ensina e o saber de quem aprende.

A peça que mais o marcou até hoje? Uma criada em conjunto com crianças - e foram elas que escolheram as cores. Às vezes os melhores resultados vêm de onde menos se espera.

Meet Tito 🤍

Titus Urura, originally from Kenya, learnt the art of reed weaving here in Coz, under the guidance of Mr Eurico. His role, as he himself describes it, is to act as a bridge — between cultures, between generations, and between the knowledge of those who teach and those who learn.

Which piece has left the biggest impression on him to date? One he created together with children – and it was they who chose the colours. Sometimes the best results come from where you least expect them.

Eurico, Maria and Tito. There are three of them, with very different stories - and one thing in common.

A team that brings together two continents, decades of experience and a mission to keep a centuries-old craft from Coz alive. Their mission is to pass on their expertise - producing pieces that preserve tradition whilst managing to innovate.

A Coz chegava-se por muitos caminhos.

Foi com essa ideia que, em 2019, nasceu a Coleção Terra: peças simples e originais com nomes de lugares que ainda hoje fazem parte desta paisagem: a Paliteira, a Mogueira, a Carregueira, Linhares, Celões e Coz.

A Coz'ART nasceu em 2015 com um propósito claro: revitalizar a arte de trabalhar o junco, uma tradição centenária desta freguesia, e criar novos artesãos. Hoje, no espaço da Adega das Monjas, o junco continua a ser colhido, preparado, tingido e tecido à mão.

Cada peça é um ato de preservação. De um território. De um saber. De uma comunidade.

There were many paths that led to Coz.

It was with this idea in mind that, in 2019, the Terra Collection was born: simple, original pieces named after places that are still part of this landscape today: Paliteira, Mogueira, Carregueira, Linhares, Celões and Coz.

Coz’ART was founded in 2015 with a clear purpose: to revitalise the art of working with rushes – a centuries-old tradition in this parish – and to train new craftspeople. Today, at the Adega das Monjas, the rushes continue to be harvested, prepared, dyed and woven by hand.

Each piece is an act of preservation. Of a territory. Of a craft. Of a community.
